Buffalo Bills Spirit in Stitches
If you’ve grown up in Western New York like I have, being a Bills fan isn’t just about football—it’s part of who you are. Through blizzards, heartbreak seasons, and those unforgettable high points, I’ve been cheering for the Bills my whole life. So of course, when I saw the Sports Doodle Cowl Pattern by Jamie Lomax of Pacific Knit Co., I knew it had to become a Bills Mafia project.
The pattern is already packed with fun motifs like footballs, jerseys, helmets, and more, but I wanted my cowl to scream “Buffalo”, so I designed my own chart of the retro red buffalo logo and worked it right into the mix. Watching it appear stitch by stitch was pure Bills fan joy—and now I’m sharing that chart for free here on the blog so you can add it to your own knitting too.
The Yarn Lineup
This project came together with a lineup of Bills-inspired colors that felt like home turf:
Bills Mafia – a rowdy, spirited variegated colorway that captures the heart of the fans.
Toss’n the Pigskin – a warm brown, perfect for those little football doodles.
Buffalo Blue – that unmistakable royal blue every fan bleeds.
Color Rush Jersey – a bold, true red that demands attention.
First & Goal – a soft silver, just right for finishing touches (and a nod to those icy Cold Front rival jerseys).
Together, they made every doodle pop and gave the cowl the energy of a packed Sunday crowd at Highmark.
